Brandon.me changes

A lot of my friends complain about how busy I get from time to time. Working full time, going to school and trying to manage my ‘little’ web empire is not the easiest way of life, I assure you. I can’t imagine what life would be like if I had kids! Anyway, I thought I’d jump in here and post something since it’s been a few months of NOTHING.

Personal Blog Updates

Format Change: This site (if you haven’t noticed) has become my personal blog site. In it, I just talk about things like this—interesting to me, but maybe not to you! It’ll serve as sort of a network link between Ledfrog.com and DigitizingLife.com so I can keep all my crazy hobbies in order.

Ledfrog.me: As a result of this change, Ledfrog.me will soon be merged into this site and then set up as a forwarding domain. I might have been a bit overzealous in registering that one, but what’s done is done and now it’s time to consolidate.

iPhone Repairs: Due to word-of-mouth through my friends, I’ve been getting random requests to fix iPhones, iPods and other broken tech. Soooo, I’m going to be extending my services beyond my circle and providing repair services to anyone who needs them. This won’t be some highly-invested idea that bottoms out before I make a buck. I’m going to offer the services, set some prices and leave it alone. In other words, finding business for it won’t be a priority.

Ledfrog.com Updates

Podcasts: I’ve been working super hard on Ledfrog.com and getting things ready for a new form of communication (for me that is)…the podcast! Brian Sousa and I are going to be running a simple “show” that talks about technology and everything related. Basically, this will be an extension of everything I already write about on the site but now we can have live dialog.

The Forum: My original plan was to change out WordPress for the new CMS provided by vBulletin, but after tinkering with it for a few weeks, I decided that wasn’t the road I wanted to take. Instead, I opted to use the vBulletin Forum by itself and continue to use WordPress as the CMS. You can see the subtle integration by visiting the blog and the new forum.

New Look: After many changes to the theme over the last half year, I finally settled on the one you see now. While it’s still a work in progress, I love the fact that it is super customizable and for someone like me (non-coder), I need all the efficiency I can get! This way I can spend more time writing, blogging and podcasting. Everybody wins.

That’s it for now…

Thanksgiving Weekend Mini Roadtrip

This year I wanted to do something different with Thanksgiving rather than work and/or just eat lots of food. This time, I wanted to get away for the weekend, so the lady and I packed our stuff up, had two Thanksgivings yesterday, went to sleep early and left the house around 8am today. The plan? To get to San Francisco by way of U.S. 101 and stopping at various hotspots along the way including Hearst Castle.

As I sit here right now, I connected to a free wifi connection at a low-budget Econ-lodge which surprisingly has fairly good service for the money. Our goal wasn’t to drop loads of cash on the most fancy place we could find, but rather save that money for great eats and trinkets worth purchasing in the Bay area.

Grant Ave. in Chinatown, San Francisco.
I’ve been snapping some photos of the trip, but so far they’ve consisted mainly the Pacific Ocean, a little squirrel friend we found and Hearst Castle. I’ll get them uploaded when I finish touching them up. I’ll be checking in later!

On my way to Vegas!

My buddy Erik is getting married next weekend so a couple of the guys and I are on our way out to Las Vegas to celebrate his last weekend of being single!

This trip takes the honor of being the first trip to Vegas where I didn’t have a room lined up in advance. We literally have no place to stay as I’m writing this!! Of course for a bunch of bachelors looking for some adventures in Sin City, this is not a concern.

Our plans so far consist of getting into town, eating lunch, looking for a room, figuring out something to do tonight, dressing up as Mario Kart characters to go go-kart racing, possibly sleeping and then come home tomorrow afternoon.
