Playing in the snow in Idyllwild

Idyllwild Screenshot

I walked away with a full stomach, frozen ears, bloody knuckles and I lost my glasses. But, overall it was great time! There’s nothing like spending quality time with great friends and to be quite frank, there’s nothing like the stinging pain of ice ripping a thin layer of skin off 3 of your five fingers.

I guess I can’t complain much considering that I was trying to capture some great footage of myself going down a hillside, so I decided to hold the camera myself. But enough of that–I’m going to talk about the rest of the day first. If you want to jump ahead, be my guest. [Sledding Damage]

The Drive

Today, I was meeting up with Brian in San Jacinto to take a day trip up to Idyllwild. This morning, I needed to book a flight to New York, but I ran out of time, so I had to do it on the way there. I was able to do it while on the freeway juggling back and forth between texts on my phone and JetBlue.com on my iPad! Of course it wasn’t the safest thing to do, but I pulled it off. Ironically, as soon as booked the flight, the George Thorogood song, Bad To The Bone came on…I thought so. :)

The Photos

Most of these pictures are part of my Idyllwild portfolio available at Brandon.me.

Sledding Damage

So in an effort to video myself going down the hill on a tiny little plastic sled, I decided to do it one-handed while holding my iPhone with the other. This proved to be a mistake because at some point, I got my hand slightly stuck under the sled and got scrapped up on the ice.

For those of you that have never been cut by ice, I can assure it’s not quite the same as a piece of paper or even a knife. The main difference is that the ice is so cold, it instantly numbs the pain, so you actually don’t feel much of anything–which is kind of good–until your extremities begin to warm up! This pain was equivalent to someone holding a lighter over my knuckles and me watching them burn with no way to stop it.

When we got back to the house, I was all bandaged up by my personal nurse, Christine so it was all good! :)

Overall

I can say that despite my hand and me losing my glasses, the day was quite a fun time. I hadn’t been sledding in years and it was great to be outside in fresher air than we sometimes get in Orange County. Before we went sledding, we ate at a really cool cafe called The Red Kettle and we all seemed to create custom orders not on the menu. I don’t think we’ll ever forget the “Martin Burger”!

I’ll leave you with this picture of Martin casting some magic spell on us with his insane World of Warcraft powers. Don’t mess with him!

There’s a new blog in town!

Ok, so it seems like I’m running like a hundred sites now, but I assure you…it’s only 4. And like I always say, “this one is different”. How so you might ask? This one is just going to be ramblings about my life.

The first thing I plan to do is retroactively tell stories from my life and show you a lot of old school photos and videos that I’ve been finding on my computers. For those that know me well, this should be a blast from the past! With that said, you can also see what direction I’m taking this blog–there should be no talk of business here.

In the meantime, I’ll be adding things as I go along, so do expect everything to be perfect upfront. As usual, if you like what I have to say, please subscribe to this site’s RSS feeds and come back often. I’m sure there’ll be something of interest to you here…at some point in the distant future.

2011 New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year 2011

I can’t believe we’re already facing a new year! Where is the time going and why do I feel like I missed some of it? The reality is that I haven’t really missed any of it, but rather enjoyed most last year while suppressing some of it. Isn’t that the healthy approach?

At any rate, I (like everyone else) have decided to instill some new year resolutions upon myself. Since I did so well in 2010 with keeping last year’s promises, I have no doubt that this year will be just as fulfilling. Seeing as how we still have 4 full days left until I need to start acting on these, this list may change, but for now, here they are (in no particular order).

Blogging Resolutions

  • Re-design this site (AGAIN…I know, but I think I finally settled on the look I’ve been shooting for)
  • Throw a little more TLC at this blog
  • Finally decide how to incorporate all my domains together and stop competing with one another
  • Go back to my one-post minimum PER day

Business Resolutions

  • Start advertising to drum up actual clients
  • FINISH THIS SITE ALREADY
  • Stay focused on clients much better

Life Resolutions

  • Buy a house/condo/trailer/cardboard box–anything to own and live in
  • Keep schoolwork going well
  • Stop going out so much (to save time and money)
  • Get a gym pass
  • Eat healthier

I will no doubt be adding or removing things throughout the month of January, but these were things I thought of just now.

The thing at the top of my list right now is trying to figure out where I’m going to be when we all say goodbye to 2010! I hope everyone has a great new year!
